Aerobic capacity and maximum oxygen consumption are known determinants of rowing performance with well-established assessments. This article reviews the efficacy of a new maximal ergometry test to measure maximal oxygen uptake that can be executed in any boathouse and has the potential to inform training and programming decisions.
